Rain And A Peaceful Moment (2003)

A Poem by Carolina A. Evans
"

My first poem!! I would like to thank Mrs. Parker, my 10th grade history teacher, for putting in that boring video of The Spartans on a rainy day, which bored me so much that I looked out the window, got inspired, and wrote a poem. I've been writing for 5

"

Rain and a Peaceful Moment

The rain drips silently outside my window
as I watch a movie quietly.
Then the rain pours louder, demanding attention;
I glare at the rain, warning it not to ruin my peaceful moment.
The rain, like a kind friend understanding me,
reduces to soft drip-drops,
as I turn back to the movie, relaxed,
thankful for my peaceful moment once more.

What simple understanding and beauty in the words of this virgin poem. It makes me remember the southern rainstorms as they would patter atop my vehical. Rain does indeed give us a sense of peace. I could almost imagine the relaxed feeling you must have felt. Great job here!
