No Ovation

No Ovation

A Poem by tmpebbles
"

This takes place as a "dream" but it's another poem about bullying. Something that I endured as a kid. This was written in my teens

"

The audience threw me roses

My heart was full of glee

Although, upon closer examination

Pool of black stared back at me

Horror was evident upon my face

Laughter erupted from the crowd

I yearned to escape this mutiny

Regretfully, this was not allowed

For, in a breath, I was barricaded

Insults roared amongst the air

Silently, I beckoned for help

Outwardly void of a signal flare

Mindlessly, I withstood the torment

Glares of hatred bore into my soul

Was this to be a minute assault

Or merciless death the intended goal

Enemy hands lunged upon me

Fell like a domino at their feet

My limp body darned surrender

Subconscious acknowledge the defeat

With a start, I am fully awakened

At nightfall, it remains but a dream

Though reality will emerge at daybreak

Play of ugliness flow like a stream

You see, I am deemed an outcast

Humanity sorely reminds me so

To be a star in life's production

Remains a role I still don't know
