Thoughtless

Thoughtless

A Poem by Tom Moll

Sleep, the only time my mind can rest

Sleep, so inviting when I feel so stressed

Because when the sun rises, until it sets

My mind runs with questions and could-be regrets

I drink to slow it all down

I drink but it’s still all around

Sleep is the only thing that feels inviting

It’s the only thing better than drinking and writing

So I sleep to wake up to a new day

Hopefully one that’s not so grey

And maybe all my thoughts won’t go astray

I’d like to send my thoughts away…

To a place less cliché

To a place where I feel okay

To a place where my mind can rest

To a place where I'm not so stressed

To a place I want to find

When I leave this place behind

And never turn back

So I get my bags and pack

And find a place where my mind can be at peace

A place where these endless worries cease.

Very well written and put together. I was able to my feet in the character's shoes.
