My Future at My Fingertips

My Future at My Fingertips

A Poem by Tom Moll

My future at my fingertips

Happiness in my hands

Power running through my veins

Giving my soul what it demands

Knowledge where my heart once was

As emotions flood my mind

Moving forward, not with muscles

But with strength from what I've left behind

People, places, parts of my life

Memories which are no more

Than electricity weaving through my mind

From the things I've left behind

Emotions from my past

Nothing more than electricity

Weaving through my heart

From the things that didn’t last

Impulses that I can’t control

It eats at me from time to time

Knowing that knowledge isn’t power

If knowledge can’t even control

Something as simple as feelings

As complex as that can be

And it eats at me from time to time

The realizations that knowledge can bring

But I know my future is at my fingertips

And happiness is in my hands

Because this is the time of my life

I ignore the jealousy and push through the strife

And I walk away

From things that don’t have anything

To offer, beyond more jealousy, more stress

That’s a game I don’t want to play

What’s the point?

I walk away, and don’t look back.
