I Whispered

I Whispered

Misery, hopelessness, abandonment...
What is this feeling?
You closed the door to our home,
to our life together,
and shattered me into pieces.
Broken pieces of my heart
scattered on the floor
all around me
as the tears poured
freely down.
For hours I sat there
in the middle of the floor,
the empty feeling growing stronger
with every tear that fell,
with every minute that passed.
Could it be
that this was all a dream?
My head throbbing from
the never-ending stream
falling from my eyes,
I wanted to scream your name.
Instead, I whispered...
I whispered to an empty home,
to our abandoned dreams,
to my aching heart.
I whispered...
"I love you."
