The Silent Treatment

The Silent Treatment

A Poem by Thea M. Joy

"
Top of the mornin' to ya,
I saw you sitting here.
Thought I'd take a moment now
to whisper in your ear.

I wondered if maybe you
could lend a helping hand.
I seem to have lost an acorn
somewhere beneath the popcorn stand.

Perhaps you didn't hear me,
you did not blink an eye.
Your silent stare confuses me,
not a laugh nor scream nor sigh.

Well I guess I should be going now,
I must not waste the day.
Pleased to make your acquaintance
though you had not much to say!
