A Kitten's PrayerA Poem by Thea M. Joyrepost
Oh Lord,
as I stand here before you with my paws held firmly together, I ask these things of you. Please cleanse me of these fleas, they make me itch and scratch. Please shower me daily with treats made of tuna galore and someplace safe to hide them from the dog who lives next door. Oh Lord, just a few more things before I lose my mind... Please protect me from the kisses of that slobbering two year old. He holds me upside down and shakes me, then squeezes me 'til I can't breathe. He drags me through the yard, by my tail and nothing more, while he squeals with unmasked happiness at my miserable sight. Oh Lord, before I forget.... Please hear this last request. Please bless the one who holds me and pats me with tender loving care. Bless the one who feeds me and makes sure there's water there. Bless the one upon whose pillow I find comfort in each night. Tell them that I love them and think they're quite alright! Amen. © 2008 Thea M. Joy |
