Hungry Heart

Hungry Heart

A Poem by tamemei

My heart is hungry, never full
For how long now I cannot say.
Can you afford to pay the toll?

The ebb and flow create the pull
In motion now, can't guide our way
My heart is hungry, never full.

Your hands, they grasp, are burned on coals
For mine are hot, mold you as clay
Can you afford to pay the toll?

A thought, small now, will grow, be whole
Must catch it now lest it decay
My heart is hungry, never full.

Your eyes on mine: stained glass, your soul
Stays closed and barred, keeps mine at bay.
Can you afford to pay the toll?

In warm embrace we lose control
And spiral down the void so grey
My heart is hungry never full,
Can you afford to pay the toll?
