Beloved TimepieceA Poem by tmac1124This poem is based on a story that I have been writing.I live for the telling of the time of day, For the disinterest in the hours in my time away, For the shaking and the burning of desires gone astray, I live for the telling of the time of day.
I breathe to the ticking of the clock in my chest, To the unseen discomfort of a doll in distress, To the rising of days and the sun as it sets, I breathe to the ticking of the clock in my chest.
I ache for the children who silently cry, For the bursting of colors as the sun slowly dies, For the heart-breaking memories of a loved one’s goodbye, I ache for the children who silently cry.
I tick for the beating of a terrified boy, For when his heart has stopped and we both shall die, For when at last he finds courage to become a man, For when he realizes time is like castles of sand, For when he takes what is fragile and helps it to stand, I tick for the boy who has become a man. © 2017 tmac1124Author's Note
