Promises

Promises

A Poem by TJ
"

Im not very good at poetry, but I just going through some stuff right now and this is how I feel. Kinda long but enjoy.

"

A promise.

They are not meant to be broken right?

That's one of the many moral we learn

in this world right?

Right, I thought so. So question:

Where the hell were you at

when they was teaching this particular moral?

Who knows, probably thinking about your next piece of a*s

instead of actually listening and learning that a promise isn't

meant to be broken.

I mean you know how to make promises just fine.

You know how to promise that you love me.

Promise that I'm the one you want to be with.

That I and only I make you happy.

Yeah, you made all those promises to me just fine.

Only problem is you didn't know how to keep those promises.

You didn't know how to stop those sweet, affectionate promises

from turning into cold, blatent lies.

You really should do better at that

as I'm not the only one.

You knew of my past experience with another's "promise"

and yet you did the exact same thing after promising that

you were different.

Another lie.

Promises are nothing if they don't come from God himself.

He is the only one who can promise me anything and expect me

to believe.

Everyone else will now require a written contract.

Signed and dated if they expect me to believe anything that comes

out of their mouth.

At least that way if you break your "promises", I would somehow

be covered by the law.

Sad isn't it?

Sorry, but that's all a promise means to me now.

Sorry buddy but you ruined it for the rest.

Thank you for your reviews. It really does inspire me to write more. It's wonderful to know and hear that I'm not alone in my experiences.

This is a great poem for never really writing poetry before. It is heartfelt and angry, lined with disappointment, not only one let down but two. I love that you turned to God, knowing He would not fail you. I completely understand the pain of broken promises, I personally know the snap of betrayal and yet I know that sometimes you have to go through a blockade of people who are wrong for you in order to find the one who is right. Even if this was just experimental piece, just to vent, this is a great poem. Thank you for sharing.:)

i will not be a grammar nazi for this review, as there were just a few grammar errors. overall, buddy, this was a good poem. perhaps the outlet that you need right now for the things you keep bottled up. maybe you should try a little more often when you're feeling overwhelmed
it does sadden me that you let one, or i guess two, people ruin trust for you for everyone else. eventually, you'll find someone better. just keep your head up
