Chapter 5

“ That’s it! Who did it? Who took all the food?” I pointed my dirty, little pointer finger at Scott.

“Hey, how do you know it was me? What proof do you have? I didn’t do nothing” Scott was the quiet one of the group, but when he actually said something, he was the funniest guy you would ever talk to. I couldn’t help but smile, trying to hide my laugh, I looked at the ground. 

“Stop trying to hide your smile Cassi, we can all see it” Dana giggled her little giggle.

“Whatever, I’m going to get more food” I confirmed to all my hysterically laughing friends.

“Okay, but make sure your back before dark, ” through fits of laughter “we’re doing scary stories.” said Paige.

“You all know, scary stories aren’t my thing” They all looked at me, “FINE! One story, then I think we all better go to bed tonight, don’t forget it is my birthday still. Who wants to come?” I got a few volunteers. Mike, Jeremy, Elsie, Fay, Vince and Hazel. 

“Okay, well, you guys have to go get some wood for the fire” We all started walking away, forming our own human chain. My arms over Jeremy and Elsie.

It was silent. It was dark. It was cold. We sat there looking at each other. Scared to death, by the sound of small feet on Autumn leaves. I jumped when Jeremy whispered into my ear. 

“Maybe we should all just go to bed” he said, so quite I nearly misheard him. I nodded.

I then continued the suggestion and stood up, picked up my blanket and walked over to the tent. I couldn’t really remember which tent was mine, so I just plunked myself into the closet one. I closed my eyes and slept.

I woke to a scream. A girl’s high pitched scream. I didn’t realize it was Ally’s high pitched scream. I put on my slippers and ran outside to find her crying. Everyone was around her. She was breathing heavily. She managed to get three words out.

“They...Stole...HIM” I noticed Vince wasn’t there.  I was thinking in my head ‘ you can’t steal someone’

“Oh god! S**T, S**T, S**T” I said. 

“Cassi? What is it?” I heard a reassuring voice, Jeremy. 

“Uh, well, Oh god. I knew I should have listened to him!” I didn’t know what I was saying. How could I trust him, that didn’t happen, I couldn’t believe it. 

“Okay, calm down Ally. It’s fine, he’s probably just gone to do some sho-” I was cut short. 

“Then explain why I saw someone grab him this morning! Thats not called going shopping, and he would have told me” She nearly yelled at me. Before I could say anymore, I saw a figure walking towards up, limping almost. But, before any of us could tell who it was, Ally ran straight up to it and hugged it. We could all hear her sob and by that, we knew who it was. Vince. 

“Oh my god, Vince, what happened to you?” asked Elsie. 

“Uh.. I, nothing uh, don’t worry. I might just uh .. go and uh, sleep.” I watched him walk away and decided to follow him. Jeremy intended on me leaving him, but I needed to know what happened.

“Vince, hey, uh, could you tell me what happened?”

“I, uh, I went sleepwalking.. that’s all” he said with his shaky, little voice.

“Sleepwalking? Come on, you can tell me, please I need to know, incase it happens to someone else”

I looked at him straight in the eyes. 

“There was this.. uh, dark figure and it grabbed me. I couldn’t breathe, then I... I, uh, got taken” He paused for a moment. “I got tortured, whipped and cut and hit. I did as I was told, but it just made it worse. But then he sent me back and I came back here” I felt like I couldn’t breathe. Like I’d just been choked. I need it to stop.
