Chapter 14

‘You will be advised to stay in a safe and secure area while the cyclone whips through. If you don’t have anywhere to go, find somewhere. Better to be safe than sorry’ 

I couldn’t believe it. There was more? Wasn’t it over yet? How was there anymore? I just hoped it wasn’t rain. 

“How can there be more?” asked Mike.

“I don’t know, why are you asking me. I’m not the weather reporter” By then it was nearly -1 degrees Celsius. The little girl had the only blanket and the only way we could get warm was to sleep with each other. It was nearly impossible, but we had to try. There was more rain coming now. I sat down on the branch and was half expecting Jeremy to come over and let me cry into his shoulder. Instead Vince did. 

“Vince, what are you doing?” As soon as he put his arm around me, I could feel how cold he was. I knew Jeremy had gone a little further to see if there was any buildings we could stay in, but I was still scared he would come back. I took the risk and wrapped my both arms around his chest. He wrapped his spare arm around my shoulder and we sat there. Twisted in each others arms. 

“Can I ask you something Cassi?” 

“Sure, what is it?” i tried to sound reassuring.

“Well, I mean, If you weren’t, uh, going out with, you know, Jeremy, do you think we might have an er chance?”

“What about Ally?” I looked up at him best I could “And Jeremy, I couldn’t hurt him”

“Come on. Cassi. Please just tell me that we might have the slightest chance” I think he was nearly crying. 

“Vince, I’ll think about it” and with that, I was asleep. Laying in Vince’s arms, just waiting for Jeremy to come and take over.

That day, Jeremy didn’t talk to me at all. Didn’t look at me. Didn’t touch me. I decided for the best, that I would talk to him. 

“Jeremy” he didn’t stop what he was doing. “Jeremy, look at me” he looked at me “What did I do?”

“You know what you did”

“No I don’t, please, tell me” He looked at me, his head on an angle that made him look so adorable. 

“You told Vince, you and he might have a .. chance” 

“No I didn’t! I told him I’d think about weather we had a chance or not. And why would you be jealous of Vince anyway?”

“I’m not jealous!!” he yelled at me. “I just want you to myself, and now and obviously, this baby is going to be your attention and not me” He sounded like his sister took the toy he was playing with and she stole it. 

“Jeremy! Nothing will ever be better than you or even on a list. Your the one and only love in my life. That’s why I love you” and we hugged.
