Alone.

Alone.

A Poem by Tiarra Lynn

I don't fear the dark,
For the same reason that you do.
It helps me feel as if I'm not alone.

I don't fear the dark,
I don't fear what I can't see.
Because if I was in the light again,
I'd see it was only me.

This is quite metaphysical, I must say. It needs more than one read to really comprehend it. If I'm interpreting correcting, the "it" in the last line is referring to the dark[ness] or the factor that it's only the poetic 'I' inside the dark[ness]. Whatever the case may be, this is brilliant! I would simply advise three minor tweaks, If I may: Take "that" out of Line 2 (it helps the musicality flow better); don't repeat "I don't fear" in Line 5 (it undermines the power in the repetition in Line 4)....better to tweak that line so it has a similar flow to Line 2; and take "again" out of Line 6 (helps the musicality flow better and also paints a more profound picture). Just some thoughts. This is otherwise superbly well done!

Such painful meaning in these words. To be so truly alone that darkness means nothing. Yet, in that darkness is the growth. So that when the light returns it is because a friend flipped the light switch. Thank for the wonderful words.
