turtle doves

turtle doves

A Poem by CHRIS ANDES
"

"to my friend"

"
Yet appear to be unnoticed,
little merriments of love they brought,
a masterpiece of winter days
that did emerged on Christmas trees.

Belief would say that friendship stays,
when turtle doves impart their way
to pair of souls who keep believing
that chain of love will not be broken.

The twins are though as white as snow
little doves of flicker-flow,
To both bestowed a gift of luck,
even apart will still come back.

A boy then came to have some touch
to the Christmas tree he love so much
then up he prayed on what to pick
he'll give a friend a gift to keep.

From up the tree that seems so tall,
two turtle doves to him befall
with joyous heart he fled away
towards the church he made his way.

"This gift i brought this Christmas eve
a certain promise for us to keep
to each other's side we'll never leave
though from death I may not live".

Both had fondle each turtle dove
they walked the night with velvet love
as tangled light then varnished them
his friend at last had talked to him;

"You filled my heart with so much love
we'll live together just like these doves
eternal life in you will spring
beneath the sky we fly and sing".

Morning brights on Christmas day
yet all the hearts was turned to gray
with sweet lips that's full of mirth
the li'l boy had met his death.

Outstanding, you write so confidently. I love christmas and winter both evoke so much and your writing was made for the feelings I associate with that time of year. Classic but something completely different at the same time.

As for the ending, turtle doves represent the friendship beyond the physical coming together of pals, a parting was always on the cards or was this in fact a short reunion.

well done

Many readers wonder about the sudden turn-point at the conclusion, as do I... Yet it is an excellent poem with youthful flow. Well done!

It was lyrical and was in a great flow.. I like it but I still wonder for the sudden conclusion.

I like the description and the story. Each set of lines making the story come alive and strong.

"You filled my heart with so much love
we'll live together just like these doves
eternal life in you will spring
beneath the sky we fly and sing".
The ending was sad. But I like the feel and the desire of this poem. A outstanding poem.
