To Love Her

To Love Her

A Poem by Sa

She doesn't know love son,
she doesn't know love

She knows hate, a tornado of gasping whispers that
whip and lash within her soul. A thunderous, trembling
force that glows from within and gives her the power
and confidence to thrive.

She knows joy, which blinds her with its radiance,
which elevates her to the highest euphoria of tranquil
skies, rich green grass, laughter and kisses.

But she doesn't know love son,
she doesn't know love.

She knows pain, which smothers her with darkness.
She knows hunger, which clamps her inside like a tight
fist until she is crazy with desire.
She knows anger, the monstrous dragon of brilliant colors
which soars above the sea of calming despair.

But not love, not love.

She knows fear, when she wants to cry but her tears are
frozen. When she wants to scream but can't find her voice.
When her heart dissolves into hot lava scalding everything
within her, and within her mind are a million bats, shrieking
and flapping their bony wings.

She knows insanity...warm insanity with teeth and gnarls
and blood on her face, blood in her eyes so that she cannot
see the world except through blood. Warm, warm insanity
like tap water running through her fingers and through
her mind again and again.

But not love son.
She doesn't know love.

I have thing subjective to say about you work here, a work like this must be see with an objective eye. With that eye, you express an understanding of the depth of a mind and the helplessness a soul can feel.

Simply brilliant!

I truly enjoyed this piece. I also agree with everything Raven said.
Everything about this piece makes it captivating, the subject, the imagery, strong wording,...
"Warm, warm insanity
like tap water running through her fingers and through
her mind again and again." This, among others, is so powerful.

This is by far one of my favorite here.

This is brilliantly penned. Shall just list down the things I love about this piece:

1. The repetitions of 'she doesn't know love'. It makes the reader compare the emotions on the extreme ends of the spectrum, and this highlights the fact that she does not know love. The 'son' makes the idea of love stand out even more, and makes it all the more poignant and sad that 'she doesn't know love'.

2. Killer imagery. Case in point: 'She knows hate, a tornado of gasping whispers that / whip and lash within her soul.' I personally love poems that employ effective and powerful imagery.

3. The title. It just illustrates the full circle that love is, and that's such a beautiful thing.

Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed it so much :)

Loves,
Raven
