Inner SanctumA Poem by Choosing Life
Get this right Out of rivers Streams are born Lakes are formed As the earth is drenched in rain Beauty comes from pain A dove flies over barren lands But I see growth in dry things It amazing what can survive a drought Desert lands love desert sands And I pant for water Cottonmouth I talk While tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth Metamorphosis begins I feel every cell in me shape and bend I am different again Seeing me as if for the first time Pinching myself to make sure I am Love and I become so much as one I see in me the beauty I had been reaching for Knocking on many doors But I couldn't get in Peeking through the cracks My foot crushed As I begged to be seen As I begged to be felt Touch me in here I pointed beyond this useless flesh To the heart matter of my being A mind that needed to be challenged A soul that needed to be stroked But the door just kept closing And a pseudo ego broke Till walls and barbed wire Threatened to take me and others out There was no light Because the windows were boarded shut I couldn't breathe Suffocated by fear and dismal prospects I accidentally cocooned myself Morphing into something else Love and I became one Beauty came from pain I came across what I had been needing In an Inner Sanctum moment © 2008 Choosing LifeReviews
