True Trust

True Trust

A Poem by Choosing Life

My heart is on full,

Most times on swollen.

Love that was given

Ended up stolen

And rivers of memories

Once seemed so golden

But Time changed my mind.

Experience said I would be fine

And I stepped over the last time.

Closed my heart for a while

But my smile opened me back up.

Sometimes I flinch at touch

Thinking hurt will cause my dreams to rust.

The dust settles silently

When a heart breaks violently.

Reality highlights there is only me

And that is a great thing.

An emotional stew... sadness, hopefulness, hurt, joy, worry, faith, but above all, just simple humanity. An artful description of a universal set of feelings... the complexity of love.
