Sealed Fates

Sealed Fates

A Poem by Choosing Life

Increasing internal complexities

As we burn the sheets

With sweat and DNA

Mixing soul and spirit

Feeling betrayed by thoughts and lust

Passionate touches

Make us yearn for good sugar

Our saga a few months old

And we are so bold

Tripping into couple things

Playing house at the kitchen sink

I wash dishes while you cook

We think we can pump brakes and pull out

And maybe you can

That is a trait of many men

But can I

As I play hard

And eat on pride

Telling you I understand

When I don't and when my heart won't

We get deeper into

Spiritual endeavors

As we bump wills

Like gladiators

Measuring who will be greater

We taste lips

And smile

Walking into fire

Like a child that doesn't believe it will burn

Or wont learn until skin is blistered

We practice partial resistance

And maybe it is our curiosity

Or the sweetness of our hearts velocity

That keeps us traveling deeper into skin

Entering into each other pores

And depositing spirits into our souls

We are joined

But separate

And soon we will become desperate

As I shut down

Because I want to beat the hurt

And you shuffle feet against the dirt

Because your past relationship left you burnt

 You gave too much

And now you dont want to give enough...

Yet when I pull back

You hold on tight.

With permanent markers

We write on our souls

Silently I love you while in denial.

There is a longing here that won't go away, even if the recognition of denial was evident. And being that you end this, knowing the denial, I'd have to say that it works perfectly. There's actually this show on TV that I catch on Thursday nights, called "Lipstick Jungle", and a character is slowly falling into this same thing right now. Of course it's even more intense, due to them being able to physically fall into what they already dream of...anyway, I'm rambling; but I really, really like this piece. It says one thing; but SCREAMS more beneath. Excellent!

There is a persistent, unrelenting eroticism simmering beneath the surface of this poem, pulsing, insistent, unobtrusive, yet demanding. It imbues the piece with a sensuousness that subtly underlines and binds the surface conflicts of the work.

A very intriguing piece.
