The reason why

It came to know

And then tasted goodbye

Resting on a memory's vibe

Tears magnify hurt eyes

And I am mature

Because I want to be right

But it is hard to watch you leave

Out the same door you entered in

Never to be held again

What you said and meant

Are different

Or maybe the same

But you got to do the right thing

Walking into something

That may not be all

Or maybe it is

But you just weren't sure

Until you held my hand

And I don't understand but I do

What do you want

Me to fight for you

I can't

Just tell it to my heart

Make it understand

Why it has to break again

And tell it how love

Comes and goes

Like a change of clothes

And you have no need for me

Anymore

I hear what you are saying

But my heart is still grieving

As I watch you walk away from me

How we are to erase you from our thoughts

Not reach for the door

Some of us try to have some class when a relationship ends, be mature, knowing many relationships aren't for a lifetime. But that's our brain talking, when it comes to the heart, ah, there is no class, or maturity or understaning, there is just hurt and loss of joy. I love this poem, with all of its yearning to keep on loving and yet, get to the questions of the nitty gritty-How do you let go?
