Ground Zero

Ground Zero

A Poem by Choosing Life
"

It All Falls Down

"

Once standing so strong and high

I brushed against the sky

And laughed at all the passers by

My head in the clouds

I stood proud

The winds blew right by me

And I didn't budge

My shoulders didn't even shrug

My foundation of iron and steel

Made defeat seem unreal

Somebody please call 911

You hit me up high

My foundations shook

And the whole world heard it

Sounded like an explosion

My heart imploded

And somehow my mind is eroded

As I watch me die

Hear me sigh

As I kiss my last breaths good bye

Crumbling was something I couldn't conceive

Thought you would always protect me

Humbling as I watch myself turn to debris

The pierce in my side

Has caused me to die

I decided I don't want to fight

My knees buckled

My feet slipping from under me

The whole world watches as I bleed

I return to ashes and dust

I cause the ground to bust under my fall

I cover you all

A cloud of death I have become

Cold and numb

Once so high I stood

I am no more good

As I hit all new lows

Under the earth I go

I am now a living breathing Ground Zero.
