Fountain Of Young Love

Fountain Of Young Love

A Poem by Choosing Life
"

My favorite

"

You make me want to go back

2 simpler times

when we called each other through cans

with yarn string lines

and played hide and seek

I wonder why we didn’t meet then

back when play dates weren’t in

could you pencil me in now

lets play in a creek

with our bare feet

and catch tadpoles

thinking peeing toads

leave warts

let’s taste honeysuckles

straight from the vine

set off bottle rockets

in summer’s night sky

back 2 school clothes

standing in the lunch line

I hurry to sit by you

check box

yes or no

circle 1 or 2

as we eenie meenie minie moe

who will marry who

sweaty palms touching

kisses in the coat closet

you make me want hop scotch

kisses

as we throw rocks

and jump to see who misses

and you make me feel

as if I am on a merry go round

too bad I don’t believe in magic

but the twinkle in your eye

makes me want to

as we skips rocks

on duck ponds

and make He-man marry Barbie

can we see what we saw

of us in we

and swing high

and jump out of the swings

in our socked feet

rolling down the hills

in our big wheels

and everyone saying we go together

we steady blushing out "un unnns"

" no we don’t "

but we both write love notes

when teachers don’t look

a heart with your name

is on the inside of my notebook

see you make me innocently feel you

make me want to play games

like mother may I

and hear say if you don’t, you better

you two belong together

you pulling my hair from time to time

our occasional fight

and declaring we aint gone be friends no mo’

yet we hate being apart

I want to write you love letters

being young friends

I want to share

my mid day snack with you

my cookies and juice

and we can nap on the same mat

if you want too

have sleepovers under cover forts

all you got to do

check box

yes or no

circle 1 or 2

as we eenie meenie minie moe

who will marry who

This is my favorite, too!
So innocent and pure...yet, when we grow from those days, the older we get, the more we long to be right back THERE.

Fire.
