Iced Coffee

Iced Coffee

A Poem by Choosing Life

His voice was like coffee poured over ice
Smooth and sweet
Warm and brown
 My lips itch at thoughts
I’ll keep hidden under these words
He touched me there
Not with his hands
With his confidence
He made me sure
 I wanted to know him
Watch his teeth shine bright
As he smiles
He talked my fears away
And I wanted to nap as he spoke
Not from boredom
But from the warmth in his words
That lulled me to sleep
Like warm milk and counting sheep
He may as well have sat me on his knee
And rocked me gently
Like Hennessey with out ice
He left me to chase
And I smiled knowing he was worth it.
