Chasing NirvanaA Poem by Choosing LifeWisps of wind flow through Brooks of nirvana That land on sunny places In my soul And shadows wait on down the road And as the water runs Down into obscurity Pretty pictures Fade from light To dark And color Bleeds Lines separate And distance Is learned Not felt And beautiful Illusions of grandeur Hit rocks Like Plymouth And new starts Can really be endings And what of little birdies’ songs What do they know Of love and lost And win to gain Nothing but delusions Of this time I can rest And then you must travel on Because life stings And beats us into shape Or into insanity Or both And carrying weights Is a job All by itself And as the sun does eat away skin Leaving cancerous cells forming We must still stand in her warmth And you can’t deny the beauty Even though death may come from it And hauntings don’t come from ghost,Ghouls, or spirits Hauntings are from the hand reached for That doesn’t reach back What can be scarier than that Or the heart that no longer lets Love in Afraid of how it will end And does that stop anything No it does not Because even now time is creeping up Reminding us of what we haven’t done And what has not been finished And in this day So many great moments faded away And people become empty shells With painted on smiles Praying for a break Searching for a utopian dream That they can hold onto So that darkness doesn’t over take them As their soul breaks And peace escapes And shadows finally catch up with them And the wind doesn’t wisp it whips And nirvana brooks evaporate © 2008 Choosing Life |
