Of Heart And Hands

Of Heart And Hands

A Poem by Choosing Life

As I write of heart and hands,

may want be banished from them.

This ache is deceitful

as I crave of your love

wondering where lies your touch.

And does your words

that rested on yesterday’s ears

still spew forth in now’s realm?

And what of this thing called love?

Am I but a silly pawn

in line to be just another?

But how does one cease

to hold a heart that beats

from a home outside of itself ?

Many notions trouble the brain

as time can not tell me.

He holds no answers.

For who is to say

how long love should take

or if it will even last

past the falling

ever so recklessly off of lips.

Eager souls seeking to drink her in

but after tasting find

that head and heart are not in line.

And yes my heart and hands are reckless.

For I would tear down heavens walls to peek

upon thy countenance and behold you.

So reckless I have become

that I am estranged from myself

as I am apart from you.

And from whence has this turbulent wind

shaken the once steady stone?

For until you I had grown so cold

that not even winter’s frost chilled me.

Now look at my strength hide

only wanting to be by your side

and knowing I am not alone.

For many would love to lay at your feet

and I grit teeth as chin so firmly sets

and I take refuge in trying to forget.

But it is to no avail

as eyes do swell with tears.

I love you beyond your skin

beyond the make up of your royal blend.

I love you at the fabric

before your fabric every was.

I kneel before you

and wonder as to how

to tie reckless heart and hands

to bind them from pursuit.

As I am so entangled by love’s plot

yet to know how tragic the end

or maybe not.

For maybe I see my heart’s refusal

has caused me to deem such things unworthy

and I love without gauge.

Temperate is not my love

for it is a force to be reckoned with

as I sit on the edge of trust

letting you have my heart and hands.

Dear sweet lady, banish not hand nor heart for your love is pure in its reckless pursuit. When I of jaded heart and mind do read, I am brought to tears. I gnash my teeth in desire to hold you to tell you that love must be a force, not tempered by shared with raw abandonment. I know that the one for whom you write is truly fortunate beyond words or worldly compare. For in reading, I am struck by your honesty I know your words are true. Your heart and mind in concert sing the words upon your blank page and I am moved deeply moved in heart. Can one such as I love one not seen? I wonder still. Your words, I feel their caress as if your hands and graceful fingers were upon me. Your words are alive and their sweet whispers make me yearn to know their creator. There is such refinement, such power and such beauty in this work. It is I who "would tear down heavens walls to peek upon thy countenance and behold you." And if you think that I am a fool, so be it. Better to trust reckless love than not to have loved at all. It is truly beyond the mind to comprehend. Thank you, thank you and thrice thanks that you would honor me so as to call upon this place, to read these words and be carried in the mighty current of emotion I feel in this priceless script of love.

Once again, you have crafted both elegance and excellence.

Peace and blessings,

There you go again. Wowing me with your words and the passion you put into it. How do you do it every time? Your words are magical and beautiful. Enchanting would be a good way to describe your writing. Every time.

I have to say that you're one of FEW poets (recognized and un-) that I absolutely LOVE reading. You write in a way that makes me jealous. Almost as if I'll never really have the insight that you seem to have so much of. Excellent piece of work!

You really do blow me away, it is such a hard thing to do to let go totally of self, to love for loves sake, to be lead by your hearts intrests. Such beautiful expression here and in everything you write. I will write again soon, but so you know, these writings of yours, I find so beautiful.
