Life turned

And I fell hard

And I was glad

To know you

Simple things

Were left that way

And complicated things

 Were made easy

And communication

Was communion

A joining of two souls

A joining of two lives

That knew home in each other

And in less than a second

You knew me

And loved me

And I knew love in you

And I rose

On painted wings

And love carried me into your arms

And like doves all around me

Peace did ascend

And it rested in our hearts

And I knew God

Better than ever before

Because of the way He spoke

 Through you

Life became my dream

And you held my soul

Carefully

Taking your thoughts and words

Adding pieces where there were cracks

And you knew me

And I was glad

In less than a second

Heaven was at hand

And there you stood

A man that was a man

Honoring us

Respecting me

And I knew you

In less than a second

We became a whole new world

To each other

And our souls danced

High above us

And love became

What it was always meant to be

A miracle of God

An earthly manifestation of His spirit

And I rested in you

Life turned

And I fell even harder

Because winter came

And beautiful birds must fly

To warmer temperatures

Heaven was calling your name

I missed it

But you didn’t

And salty hot tears

Burn my face

As I remember

How I rose on painted wings

Everything changed

In less than a second

You were higher than I could reach

I wanted to follow you

And give death a kiss

But God said no

He stood in my way

I screamed angry at Him

Even more angry at you

How could you quit

In less than a second

Life was no longer a dream

Love only to become a bitter sweet memory

I tried to burst through the clouds

Demand your return

God said return to earth

I tried but I am still so intertwined with you

That it is impossible to fully do

As part of me resides in you

In less than second I lost my heart

And I spend most of my time

Fighting off heavy thoughts

Of how much death is sweeter

If it means I will feel your touch

And in less than a second

Everything changed

And all that is left is memories

Of what love was

And what it may never be again
