Hunger

Hunger

A Poem by Cierra

There’s a feeling of emptiness, a void of nourishment,

A familiar pain. It accompanies the growl

Of an angry bear after his long winter’s nap.

There’s a source of discomfort,

To which we promise treatment for a moment’s peace.

Simply to refrain from the humiliation

Created by the creature inside you.

Hunger is all universal, by choice

Or by the unfairness that life offers.

Forever becoming the source

Of pain, in ourselves and those who care.

Taking claim on those who feel unworthy,

Those who crave some affection.

And so, with the need for love, we disappear,

For without food, hunger consumes us.

Bye, bye beauties, bye, bye love.

Finally forsaken by the comfort you crave.
