The King of Dragonflies

The King of Dragonflies

A Poem by Alexandra W
"

Some might get the meaning behind this and some might not.

"
Skin like snow and robes of red,
he weaves the thread of lies.
A crown of bones upon his head,
the King of Dragonflies.
He glides through fine-spun spider webs
and ethereal drops of rain
His shadow casts a liquid light,
drawing beauty from the pain.

Critique always welcome. Like I said, it does have a dual meaning, so I hope that's at least a little clear. :P

It's a nice tight poem, brimming with imagery and symbolism.
I don't know about the double-meaning, but to me it seems like this is about the devil or antichrist.

pale, red robe, crown of bones (the crown of thorns). Jesus is frequently depicted as dove/peace. Here, it's king of Dragonflies (kinda like Lord of the Flies)

Spider-web, rain, liquid night...

Seems to point me that way.

The last line could open it up to another interpretation though

"drawing beauty from pain" could be literal, and as such a frequent trope of the suffering artist.

Anyhow, my best guess lol

Good stuff. A bit dark and broody.

Feel like someone trapped in time and lies. Seeing the dragonfly as beautiful and strong. But powerful and agile. And moving with such easy. Through hurdles and webs and lies. Slightly confused but picked that up. Maybe got it all wrong?
