Thy dormant soul lies
in rest;
Patiently seeking the one whom,
Shall know me best.
Thy quiet sobs go unheard;
Hide away, in the darkness,
The solemn thoughts seemingly absurd.
Around and around we go;
Faces and faces,
But no one I ultimately know.
Then from nowhere, a moment comes;
When I look at you,
Stricken with blush, and suddenly dumb.
Thy soul swells in anticipation;
The signs point along,
To a long ago emancipation.
I see you, and you see me,
But we dance around each other as if it were not so;
I can't believe, can it be?
We exchange the common words,
Giggle here and there;
Our souls dance like two funny love birds.
And afterwards I wait again in rest,
Until the time we shall meet again;
And every minute I solemnly protest.
