WISDOM

WISDOM

A Poem by G

the funny thing about school
is that you can learn anywhere
to bad that school
               4 me
 was escape from home
the funny thing about school
         was I didn’t learn
                        anything at all
Oh, I learned
         I learned  how to conform
              and not make waves
and to behave politically correct
except back then politically correct, was corporal punishment
what could a teacher do that my mom didn’t do already
I learned success
                        was
Buying a  house and 2.3 kids  a dog and a car
                        that was before SUV’s
I was taught to be a lemming
I failed at school
          so I became a teacher
but I wasn’t very good
so I became a role model
but I wasn’t very good
so noooooooooooobody wanted to be like me
so I gather my possessions
        push my cart and look
 for a place
                    to sleep

Robert Fulghum said that wisdom is not at the top of the graduate school mountain but there in the sandpile at Sunday School. Sometimes it isn't that easy. It takes a while to catch on . . . you've drawn that image with style.
