Night Prayers

Night Prayers

A Poem by Tinasha LaRayé

I close my eyes
And see you
Peeking only to look up at stars that connect
The miles that divide
I ride on the dip
And slide through belt loops
Shooting across the sky
Hoping you'd see me fly
Hoping I'd land nearby
Hoping endlessly for the wind
To be your whisper in my ear
Cool goosebumps cover me from toe to buttoned belly to teeth-clinched chin
And I pray you feel me listenin'
I lay my head on a pillow of dandelions atop my earth palette
And I cry and I pray and I lay my
whispered secrets at the feet of the breeze
And wish upon a twinkled diamond in my eye
They would float to my father's bedside for Him to hear
As He dreams about his children
I know not what else to do
I know no more prayers to pray
My whisper has grown hoarse
The night has surely run its course
Dozing off in a bath of dew
Out with the old day
In with the...
Sun's up
To keep my spot warm
Until I return

Beautiful Poetry, Tinasha, I always enjoy reading your work...this had a lovely flow of yearning yet subtle and gentle as a touch of a petal. Breath taking work.
