what does not belong?A Poem by Tinasha LaRayébullying....grrrSomething in this picture Does not belong
It is not the gay boy in the back With his head down With wet rain resting on his cheek bone
It is not the girl with blue-eyed skin With her wide grin With pain so obvious on her lip & hips
It is not the black boy hiding With his pride down With shifting untrusting eyes of blank
It is not the best friend on the side With her voice warm With comfort, hugging thoughts of suicide gone
It is you
Your words and your hurt Your stares and your quirk ~This confessional Snodgrass~ Your impressionable silent cast
Of hate
Something in this picture Should be erased Not his race or her face or his taste
But, rather, something in this heart Replaced With love…with grace
With adequate Christian space to let go of this poisonous snake and embrace the displaced, disgraced, debased neighbor whose house is right next door to yours in the picture with the picket fence and the gate is open and the door is unlocked and ready for change to knock
something in this picture does not belong
