lone moanA Poem by Tinasha LaRayéi lost my best friend - not to death - but to time
And the day turns into night
And what once had light Now stands in the shadows Cooling off to cold Hard Unknown because unseen Unfelt because unknown What used to be is no more Time opens and closes doors Regret slams in your face Door knob hitting you where the good lord split you Splitting your emotions in two Rage Sorrow Yearning for tomorrow To return to yesterday But the day has ended And gone on it’s way I fold To carry a load alone That once was shared Loyalty & kinship Strangers in the nighttime Resume the position of neutral And not of love To carry this load alone That once was shared A pair of peas that dare not leave the pod Eternally attached like sod Mortally detached like lifeless blades pulled from their root I call out to my loyalty I call out to my kin I call and I call And it’s nighttime And no one’s listening And I stand solitary in my caring And carry this lonely load alone down the lonesome road of stone I stumble I fall And no one is there to hear my call Let alone, pick me up And tomorrow is lost, gone If yesterday cannot be my home I think of friendship And I fold © 2010 Tinasha LaRayéAuthor's Note
