No One's Statue

No One's Statue

A Poem by Tinasha LaRayé
"

Ever felt like you weren't worthy for people to look up to?

"

I can be no statue

No one’s great monument

Standing humbly on a mountaintop

For eyes to look above

I am no great pillar

No strong edifice

To lean upon and love upon

Or draw from this dear backbone

I have no fortitude

No concrete mind

No sound colors on my portrait

For hearts to soak within

Eviction and abandonment

Rejection and disdain

Due compliments to my ruin

True payment for my stain

An ornamental eyesore

Not to stand beloved

I shall be no statue

For eyes to look above
