Still Black

Still Black

A Poem by Tinasha LaRayé
"

modern day lynching? - jail? maybe, maybe not

"

Running

So fast

My breath can’t catch up

Sprinting

So fast

From what’s close on my heels

Body tired

Mind racing

Eyes facing front

Stop

Look

At what I’ve done

Run straight into my history

Still hanging, swinging

Burnt and black

Still there

Still there

My Blackness ain’t goin nowhere
