Chapter Four:A Chapter by Timothy James TerryChance and Sam stayed in
bed until about two in the afternoon the next day. They enjoyed each other’s
company. They made love at least ten times from the time they went to bed,
until now. Chance got out of bed before Sam was awake to make her breakfast. He made her eggs, bacon, waffles, and coffee. He brought it to
her on a big yellow tray. “Oh this so nice, thank you Chance,” Sam said as she was
eating her eggs and, drinking coffee. Sam couldn’t help but thinking how kind
he was. He was truly the man that she should have ended up marrying. “No problem Sammy,” Chance said. That used to be what he
called her fourteen years ago when, they were dating as teenagers. She had
never had food cooked so well. Sam was thinking to herself “he is absolutely
perfect he knows how to build stuff, cook, and he’s so sweet he is The Perfect
Man.” “So what are we going to do today” asked San. “Oh I have a little surprise but, you will have to see what it
is,” said Chance mysteriously. “No fair, now I want to know,” Sam said playfully. “You will have to wait,” Chance said planting a kiss on Sam.
This made Sam feel good. Every time Chance kissed Sam, she felt high. Like she
was flying, that’s a feeling he made her feel: Free. Sam ate the rest of her breakfast, savoring every sweet bot.
After she was finished she then took a shower. She was so dirty and, she needed
the shower. When she was done she, put on her dress from the day before. She
dried her hair and, then put on a little make-up. She lathers on mascara on her
eyes, and put some red lip stick on. She didn’t look too bad and, she was
excited to see what Chance’s big plans where. As Sam went down stairs she found Chance sitting at the
kitchen table. He was wearing a big smile and, he was dressed in faded blue
jeans and a button down blue shirt. He looked good, like he just got out of the
shower. “You ready beautiful” asked Chance. “Ready when you are” Sam replied politely. She always admired
how Chance would complement her. She never got that type of love from her
former husband. Chance led Sam to his old pick up Chevy truck; it was blue
with faded paint on it. Chance opened Sam’s door like a real gentleman. Chance
was always that way. He always opened the door or, took her hand and held it.
He never let her feet touch mud because, he would pick her up and carry her
over the puddle. Chance started the old truck and began to drive. They sat in
silence for a few minutes. “So where are we going” Sam asked breaking the silence between them. “You’ll see in a moment” Chance said. Sam was wondering in her mind where they were going. Then
something clicked in Sam’s mind the path Chance was driving was familiar. They
were going to an old oak tree. This was not just an ordinary tree this, was a
special tree. It was where they fell in love; it was where they had their first
kiss together. “Oh you’re not, You are oh my god Chance” Sam screamed as they
pulled into the familiar tree. “Recognize it any?” “How can I forget it” Sam said. “It hasn’t changed one bit”
Sam said surprised that the tree was still standing to this day. “I cannot believe this is still here” Sam said. “It is surprising. You know I came here often and wrote after
you left” Chance said. “It was the only place I could escape from the pain.” “I remember how much we same here when we were teenagers” Sam
said. “This is the place where I feel in love with you” Sam said. The kiss
between them made the whole world stop in time. ”Well let’s stay a while” Chance said.” “I brought the boat
and some lunch” Chance said getting out his little canoe. This made Sam happy. She wanted to spend more time with
Chance. Nothing else was on her mind, nothing else happened. She had her cell
phone so, no one would bother them. They were on the water. Feeling the wind in her hair, it felt
good to have no noise. No noise from the city, just the sound of nature and the
water. Chance was paddling. He insisted to do all the work. Sam was
admiring how he looked using his muscles. She was watching him, taking his
figure in. She could feel his presence and, how much he loved her. She had to
admit he was romantic but, he’s sexy. He was sexy romantic in a way. It turned Sam on in a way she had never known, the fact he had
never moved on. He never dated anyone else, let alone he hadn’t had another
sexual partner. There was something innocent and beautiful about it. He was
such a beautiful person inside, and most definitely outside. “Would you like some help” Sam said with a provocative smile. “No not at all I think we are just going float for now” Chance
replied. “It is so lovely out here” Sam said looking at him kindly. ”Yes I enjoy coming out here on days like this and just sit”
Chance said. Everything Chance said to her sounded like sweet poetry. He was a
poet at heart. Chance walked slowly to the other side of the canoe to sit
beside Sam. As he did he put his arms around her and, looked in her eyes and
slowly began to kiss her lips. They could both feel the heat of the summer sun.
“You know summer’s been my favorite season” Chance said. “Oh and whys that exactly” Sam said curiously although, she
knew why. “Cause summer is when I bet you, my one true love” Chance
said. Chance saying this was so romantic and, sweet. This scared
Sam. Sam had wondered what might happen when she came back for the first time. It
happened and, this was scaring Sam. This was scarring her because she was not
what Chance needed. She wasn’t the thing Chance wanted. He wanted the thought
of her. She was dying and, that would
complicate her, although Sam didn’t say anything to him, because it was a
little thought. Sam started to hate herself inside. This is not right; this is
not what was supposed to happen. She was asking herself in her mind “I’m so
dumb, why the in the hell I could not leave well enough alone?” These thoughts and complications would soon be revealed and, would,
mess with things. After they were done on the river they came back to the shore
in which they started sailing. Chance got out pulling the boat out of the
water. He held Sam’s hand to help her out. “Thanks darling” Sam said to him thanking him for helping her
out of the boat. Chance took out their lunch there was: Two Ham sandwiches, two
thermoses of sweet tea, and a bag full of homemade chocolate and almond
cookies. The lunch was good. Chance and Sam both ate savoring each bite they
had. Sam noticed a hungry in Chance’s eyes. It was something she
could not put her finger on. It was different, like he wanted something that he
was not getting. Sam wondered could she be the thing he wants? Could she be the
thing that he was looking for. Something crossed Sam’s mind for some off reason. She thought
about her ex-husband. Not wishing he was there but, the simple fact he has been
controlling about who she saw. She knew she had Chance’s address. He was pretty
crazy and, he would come here to start trouble. “What’s on your mind” Chance asked. “You look like something’s
bothering you” he said. Sam thought long and hard. Should she tell him what’s on her
mind. How does that sound: my ex-husbands on my mind but, I love you. No she
couldn’t tell him that, it seemed shady or, unrealistic. “Are you okay?” “Oh um yes I’m find just thinking” Sam replied. She did not
look in his eyes as she said this. She felt it would give something away. “Are you sure,” Chance replied. “Yes, I’m just um thinking about my kids. I’ll be fine” Sam
said. She had to think about this answer real long and hard. She felt it did
not seem like a right answer. But nonetheless, it was a valid answer. The truth
is she was thinking about her kids, but her ex-husband was also on her mind. ”Are you sure” Chance asked charmingly. “Oh yes when you have children you worry about them a lot,”
Sam said cleverly. For the rest of the drive home there were no more questions
about what Sam was weary about. It might seem she has a fickle heart or,
something but, she was thinking about Chance in the long run. If her ex-husband
came around which, he could, it would just break Chance’s heart. The drive was quiet. All that could be heard is the tires
against the rocks. They were both quiet as rats hiding from a cat. Something
happened, something strange that Sam could not put her finger on. In Chance’s mind he was wondering what was bothering her. Was
it him? Did he do something wrong? Was there another man on her mind? Chance
still couldn’t conceive the fact that she had come back. After all these years
of waiting, fourteen years in the making, he was not going let Sam go. Not now,
he couldn’t live without her forever. It just was not possible; he didn’t think
he had the audacity to survive without his love again. Fourteen years, fourteen damn years! He was not old, but he is
getting older. He loved Sam, he loved her more than words could describe. He
hungered for her. He had never felt the way he felt this weekend in years. He
had never felt so happy, or alive. He felt free like he was on top of the
world. He thought he was the luckiest man in the world. What is she left? She
doesn’t have plans to stay. She was obviously going to leave. It seemed to Chance that it would take a miracle to make her
stay. He was getting nervous as they were reaching his road that lead to the
cottage. All he could hear the sound of grass hitting the tires of his car. He looked over to Sam. She was sitting smiling at him. He knew
her enough to know when something was bothering her. He knew her all around.
There is nothing that he doesn’t know, he knows when she’s worried. She had the
look that she had right before they broke up when they were teenagers. Chance came upon his drive way, he saw his dog in front of it.
He saw that there was a car he did not recognize. “No he didn’t,” Sam said. “What? Do you know who that is,” Chance said pointing at a man
in the front yard of his cottage. The man he saw had a green Chevy car. He was rather short and,
had gray hair. They sat there starring at the man. Chance had a hunch that he
might be. Maybe this was why Sam was acting so weird. Maybe this was one of her
former lovers. The strange man was walking over to the car. They both opened
their doors, and stepped out slowly. “What the hell are you doing here, Samantha” the man said
angrily. “Who is this Sam” Chance asked uncomfortably. “Her husband,” the man said. Husband, this means that she’s married. “No you’re not” Sam said with rage. This was the first time he
heard Sam mad the whole weekend. He actually had only had heard Sam this mad
when they broke up. That was the only time in his life he had ever heard Sam
mad, she was a calm person. “This is my ex-husband and, you have no right to be here,” Sam
shouted. As she said this the man grabbed her arm. “Come on, you leaving” He said. “No I am not. Now get your damn hands off of me,” Sam screamed
at the top of her lungs. “No you are leaving right now,” he said. “You better let her go,” Chance said walking up into Tommy’s
face. Tommy’s eyes got big at that moment. You could feel his fear,
because Chance was ten times bigger than him. He was more muscular and, he
didn’t stand a chance against Chance. Tommy did nothing for a minute. “Did you not hear me” Chance said. “I do have a shot gun would
that help you understand?” At that moment Tommy let Sam go. He looked at her with rage,
as if he wanted to hit her but, could not. “This is not over Samantha” he said walking away. “Oh I think it is actually” Chance shouted at him. Chance
looked over to Sam who was crying. He took her hand and, pulled her in close.
He held her. “It’s okay Sammy, its over. He’s gone now.” Chance looked in
Sam’s eyes, at that moment her expression changes as if she believed him. “He is always doing things like that. He still believes were
still together. It ended a long, long time ago” she said leaning into him. At
that moment he kissed her lips. This was the kiss that changed things. This was
the kiss and, she felt as if the earth stopped in its place. She wanted Chance,
she wanted to be with Chance and she wanted to stay with him forever. “Marrying him was a big mistake,” Sam said. This was sudden,
this was the point where she built up the audacity to admit it. This was the
first time she ever said it out loud. “What” Chance asked confused. “I should have married you. You should be the father of my
children, I should have been with you fourteen years ago,” She said this with a
big confidence; she smiled like an angel to him. Chance looked big eyes, he then realized something. “Samantha I feel exactly the same way. I want to love you
forever,” Chance then got on one knee. Samantha didn’t know what he was doing at first. Then she
realized it he was proposing. Samantha knew this is what she always wanted. She
wanted to marry Chance. He was hers, this love was hers. Chance made her happy,
in a way that Tommy never did. Chance was her soul mate, the love of her life. Chance pulled out a ring. “Samantha I know this is my
grandmothers old ring. I promise I will buy you another but, will you marry
me?” He said it, Samantha could not believe it. Was this real? Was
this just a dream? Fourteen years she waited. She waited for him, and she lost
him once. She was going to keep him forever. She knew her answer. She was going
to except this. “Chance I can’t believe this? I have waited fourteen years for
this darling,” she said with enthusiasm. “I lost you once, I don’t want to lose
you again. Yes, yes I will marry you forever,” She said this, at that moment
Chance stood up and, picked her up in his arms. He kissed her, at that moment
it started to rain. It was as if the rain was on cue, as if it was planned. The
rain was cold. The rain aroused both Chance and Sam. Chance carried Sam into
the house, and took her up stairs. They both made love for hours on end. This was the most
passionate sex that Sam had ever had. She screamed and moaned in pleasure. After
they were done they lay in each other’s arms and continued for the whole day. Sam
was so happy, and this was meant to be in her life. In Sam’s mind this was making up for lost years. What Sam did
not know there would be complication’s to come and, this might tear her and
Chance’s love into. It could tear her and Chance apart! © 2012 Timothy James Terry |
