drained

drained

A Poem by timothygalexander

I’ll be there in the morning
Wrapped in my mind, self- absorbing
A dirty word spoken in a preschool
Perfect young mothers shunning and abhorring

The sights and sounds of a life draining
Until a two soulless eyes are the only thing remaining
A deathly drum keeping time like a march
Nobody will come until neighbors start complaining

A wasted life and maybe a cowardly exit
I tried myself and for certain, nobody should fix it
My body is bound by a bond formed from dust
But my soul is left to answer for a life unjust
