"

Tommy has difficulty choosing who he wants to be with. Who should he choose?

"

Tommy… Did you hear the news!” Nate buzzed.

“What news?” said Tommy, while trying to focus on History lesson in third period.

“Miley and John brokeup, they actually broke. And guess why?” Nate could barley hold his laughter.

                        “Why?” Tommy asked.

“Because Miley told him that you and her kissed. I couldn’t believe it, that you were a home wrecker. Is it true?” Nate intriguely asked.

“What! She said I kissed her. No. No. No that’s not what happened! She kissed me.”

“ Well it doesn’t matter who kissed who because Johns pissed. When she told him he said he was coming after you. If I were you I’d watch your back.” Warned John.

“Thanks for the warning, but I know I can handle John. Wow I can’t believe she told him that we kissed.”

“Well do you like her? Are you going to date her?”

“I did like her, I don’t know if I do anymore.”

“ring, ring, ringg!” the bell rung, third period was over. As Tommy walked out of class he caught Jhon’s eye. John walked up to him and pushed him to the ground.

“What the hell man! I thought you were a decent guy. Why are you getting with my girl behind my back. What’s you problem?”

As Tommy got up John shoved him into a locker furiously, then Tommy used the energy to throw John into the locker.

“Look John, I didn’t kiss her, she kissed me. I told her if she wanted me to end it with you, which she did. But I didn’t kiss her when you guys were dating.” Tommy grunted.

“Why would I believe anything that you say?” John yelled. Now things were getting serious a group of freshman had formed an arch around the two boys, all yelling “Fight, fight, fight” , if this had gone on any longer the boys were sure to get caught.

“You don’t have to believe anything I say, but the fact is I didn’t kiss her. So whatever is happening between you and her is your problem, not mine!” Tommy said as forward as he possibly could. Then Tommy pushed John into the locker and walked away. He knew that anymore of that conversation was trouble and the best thing to do was to just get away.

Tommy slammed the door of his house shut. Wow! It had been a long day…First Miley telling John about their kiss, then practice going 15 minutes over time. Coach thought we needed some motivation to work harder. Wow! I work my a*s off every practice… every practice! And we need to work harder. God I need blow off steam… I want to blow off steam. I should go for a run. Just as Tommy got up to put his running shoes on he heard what sounded like a jolt of thunder from his parents .They were fighting again. Ever since he move, ever since the tragedy with Tommy’s brother, they had been fighting. And it was always about the stupidest things. “Where did the broom go Bruce” Tommy’s mother would bark, “I don’t know Denise, why is it always my problem!” Tommy’s dad would bark back. And that would start a storm that would go on for hours. Tommy didn’t know what to do about it… what to think about it… how to react to it. There was only one solution to this problem, DIVORCE. But that couldn’t happen, it wouldn’t happen, at least not in Tommy’s mind. He had to get out now, he knew he just had to get out now, that was the best thing to do, but he wanted to be different. Different from his parents, they went on and on arguing and never once addressed the problems that were causing them to argue, that’s one thing the Tommy never wanted to happen to him.

So he went on his run, he went past he long, crowded roads, past the corn fields where angry farmers through cornstalks at him, and past the developments with hundreds of kids that he didn’t know, but  this time he stopped at a girl’s house, he stopped at Miley’s house. He rang the doorbell, he was nervous, not sure what he was going to say. She opened the door and looked at Tommy, looked straight into Tommy’s eyes and smiled. Tommy was looking straight into her eyes, he didn’t know what to think… what to do… or what to say. He looked at her, gave a fake smile and walked in her huge house.

“Hi, I’m Mr. Jones, Miley’s father.”, the short man said happily.

                        “Hi, I’m Tommy.”

“Your Tommy! Well Miley hasn’t been able to stop talking about you, you know she really likes you.”

“Dad! Stop. Your embarrassing me.” Miley said timidly.

“Ok, Ok, you too have fun. Just don’t have too much fun. Remember I’m in the other room, and her older sister is upstairs.” Mr. Jones said as he left the two alone. Miley gave Tommy a innocent smile and they started up the stairs.

                        “I didn’t know you had a sister.”

“Yeah I do, but I don’t like to tell anyone.”

                        “Why not?” Tommy asked.

“Because she’s a lot different than me, and she’s kind of embarrassing.”

“Well can I meet her anyway?”

“Sure I guess” Miley said as he led Tommy to her sister’s room. She knocked on the door, and the girl opened the door. Not just any girl… Thee girl. The girl that Tommy had mysteriously ran into in the hallway. It was her… she was Miley’s sister.

“ Tommy, this is my sister, Jenna.”

“It’s ok Miley, we’ve actually met already.”

“Really, how? You’re a sophomore, and were both freshman, you dont have any classes together. Wait, It doesnt matter how you guy’s met, because I know why you came over Tommy.” She said confidently.

                        “You do?” he said surprisingly.

“ Isn’t it obvious” she said dumbly, “You came over to tell me that we can be together since I finally ended things with John for you.”

“No that’s not why, but I don’t want to talk about it out here, can he talk about it in your room?” Tommy said seriously

“Sure, why not?” Miley said. As they were leaving Jenna’s room Tommy caught her eye. She was looking deep into his eyes and he knew it. He didn’t know what to do. He only knew one thing… That was he wasn’t sure who he wanted or what he was gona do about it.

When he walked in to her room he sat next to her on her bed. He took the next hour to explain to her what he was feeling, what he was going through, and how he was confused about her and what she had done to him. Then she looked at him, the look in his sparkling blue eyes made Tommy melt out of his own skin. He felt her compassion, he felt that she was sorry and that she really did like him. It was something he had only felt once before… with her sister. This only made Tommy more confused, which caused him to leave abruptly, but before he left Miley was able to plant a kiss on him, but not just a kiss like the first one, a kiss that felt like it lasts for minutes on end. Tommy felt enlighten, that is until the kiss ended due to Jenna walking into Miley’s room and storming out. That was the cue for Tommy to leave, so he gathered his coat and left Miley’s room. As he was descending the stairs he heard Jenna’s door slam shut and soft quiet weeping coming from her room. He had done damage. He knew it too, damage on her, damage on her and Miley’s relationship, damage on the family. Tommy left their house and ran home when he got home he took a shower, and got ready for bed. When he shut his light off and laid in his bed, he had one thought, one thought that kept him awake. This thought kept him wondering for hours:

I just went over to her house to solve problems, not create them. How did things get so screwed up? What he didn’t know was that he was the lucky one.

The next three weeks went by pretty fast, Tommy simply avoided Jenna and Miley as much as he could… and as for John, he finally started to believe Tommy and called a truce. Yet after three weeks there was only so much of a chance that Tommy wouldn’t run into Miley. And that small chance was avoided, when he ran into her on the day of his wrestle off to make varsity for the wrestling team. He was stressed out, nervous, and full of pressure, but one thing he was not anymore was confused. He was seeing everything clearly. He knew what he had to say to Jenna and to Miley… He knew who he wanted for than he had ever known anything in his life.

“Hey.” Miley said, “I’ve been thinking about you a lot, and I’m sorry that I put you in the middle of that drama, I really didn’t mean to start anything with Jenna. She might be weird but I still love her, and I never want to hurt her, no matter how mad I am at her.”

“I know, and I know that you didn’t want to her Jenna. It’s ok, and the truth is, I never liked her… Only you. You were the one I first fell for, and you’re the only one I want now. Your sister is very nice, but I don’t want her, I want you… only you.” pleads Tommy, while kneeling down on one knee and gently kissing her hand.

“Yay, you don’t know how totally happy this makes me! Did you tell my sister?”

“No but I’m going to later today, will you tell John the truth?” Tommy asked.

                        “What truth?”

“The truth about who really kissed who.”

“Yes I will” she said. Then she walked closer to him and gave him a quick, open kiss on the lips.

“I know what I’m doing and I know I’m making the right decision, no matter what, I know this is what I want.”Tommy thought hard, trying to convince himself that he was doing the right thing. To him, in that moment, he made the right choice, but what he didn’t know is that all right decisions always have a way of turning into wrong decisions.
