Just Us

Just Us

A Poem by Mauricio Montoya
"

Lawless

"

Peace officer,

Few protect and serve.

Many abuse to touch a nerve.

Endings to push your buttons,

Hoping you’ll explode.

Self-gratification,

Fulfills the mother lode

While our laws are divided

On who’s right or wrong?

The authorities play bully

To control the underdog.

The scales of justice,

Are outweigh by wealth

Tipping, before integrity,

For those who have more clout.

Try to be tried, fairly.

By the people of the state

When the system has,

Already sealed your fate.

Now a jury of your peers

You hope to be your flavor

Duration of time before the verdict

Is a fear, most attorneys’ savor?

Witness on the stand,

Swears, without a doubt.

Bible beneath his hand,

The defended shouts,

Justice for me,

Justice for all,

I’m just a patsy,

Whose,

Going to take the fall.

I am in accord with your writing and your concept. I try to stay out of the system, that's why I live on the side of a mountain. I stay out of the game as much as possible. There is no justice, only the consequences of your choices. It's all something different to different people. Great poem.

wow, this was powerful. I praise you for being able to write political poetry because I cannot at all (and I wish I could because it has such a big impact on readers)!! The points you bring up are very interesting and I feel that many share your opinion. Its sad, it really is, that this is the world in which we live.

SO TRUE.
In this poem, though you did not necessarily use words that implicate sadness ... and a sense of... under-dog-ness (?), it still was very clear and that slight feeling of helplessness assaulted me as I read this.
Very Nice. =)

This is awesome! The system so to speak is full of corruption1 A patsy many have been indeed, brain washed and crimes carried out that they have no recollection of!
Great work love, powerful!

Mauricio's sream of pain here gives an insight about what it is like for the very poor and homeless who are marginalised by the law. Police want the homeless off their patch while the homeless like Mauricio need a patch on which to grow. A hand to help them take root and flourish. Instead of helping, authorities perjure, connive and oppress. The good comes from the few Church and kindred charities who extend the hand of friendship. This poem shows that Mauricio is up against it at this time. God bless him and help him!!!!!
