A Poem by Mauricio Montoya

Born, alive when they honor the dead
My first sight of light is when they slap me,
And made me cry.
My mother and father ,
Had to put the pieces together
Now were all puzzled
They couldn't find the pieces
When I began to crawl
Be they could not compete
The puzzle
Now everyone is puzzled
How you could not compete
A puzzle its that simple,
With clam you can
Put every piece together
Because its just a puzzle.

'My first sight of light is when they slap me'--
Life in a single line probably...

This puzzle has constant addition of turbulence and disappointment along with 'some not so kind people' as a giveaway. A heartfelt write that speaks for everyone!

Sometimes those puzzles are harder than they look, which could be because the instructions aren't included and even when they are, they are usually in a language we don't understand.
It seems life can be made a struggle by simple geography of being born in the wrong place at the wrong time, but we get no say in that either, so where is the fairness in being marked down at birth, for so many reasons outwith our control, by people you wouldn't trust enough to vote for in the first place?

I like how you see it. Thank you for sharing.
Puzzles aren’t always easy to solve. They can be intricate and complicated and if pieces are missing they will never be the same.

Much like life: it is complicated, intricate, evolving and ever shifting. Loose a piece and it can change everything.

Great write that made me think on a deeper level and dive into a puzzle called life

it is so hard sometimes to piece our way through life. Sometimes we just don't feel wi fit and others can be cruel and not even know it. So fortunate we have poetry. A heartfelt write here. Powerful.

We are not alone.
Life is a puzzle and for many there are pieces missing. It must be like living with a hole in your heart for what is missing. Some people have really tough lives. They deserve kindness. A reminder Mauricio, that life for many is a struggle.

Snapshot of life in different stages, life is pieces of a puzzle that you fir together… it seem simple at first, but then life and snapshots are complicated just like people….life is not easy so maybe the puzzle remains scattered… just like we all are….very clever piece, enjoyed it.. it’s deeper than we think….

You have always shown your life to be hard as heck and yet - you create poetry that turns stone into tears.

' Now everyone is puzzled
How you could not compete
A puzzle its that simple,
With clam you can
Put every piece together
Because its just a puzzle.'

You have created a strange but extraordinary magic out of a beginning that touches the heart, Mauricio.

Such a powerful, profound glimpse of life... and the fragments we are found in. Grateful for your honesty in sharing something that seems so painful.
