seven stars of fading saints

seven stars of fading saints

A Poem by Mauricio Montoya
"

thinking outside the box

"
We come to you,
Father sky.
For better days,
for mother earth is doom,
and hard times,  our tears have paid.
Hope and faith, the spirit says,
that many blessing loom.
To defeat the mighty foe.
who set his foot on this land,
when they began to row.
we can not ignore,
nor forget,
or deplore.
From east to the planes
A
gold rush,
where the west went wild
it took
an earthquake
for
 Sodom and Gomorrah
to play it  clam
now the lady granite,
who has everything
Even
the gold of lost souls
that faded with their records
but held at bay
with sincerity
hoping they would
all do the same.
but tit for tat
as history would say
its the victory's
who  writes
any the mothers
of dead worriers
who tell a story,
in the end.
we may be deferent
and even opposite
but if we live by same goals
that make us equals.
Under
Father sky
and
Mother earth.

This is screamingly original! I love it. Being a Californian, I detect many references to the history of our state, but also you kept the overall message one that applies generally to the country or to the world. I love seeing nature expressed in Native terms -- Father Sky & Mother Earth -- it makes these inanimate entities into real "people" who love & feel & grieve -- so how can we despoil them the way we do? Beautiful song of tortured love between humans & the deities of life (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
