Just Another Dream

Just Another Dream

A Poem by Mauricio Montoya

The night was eerie and cold
and then  the wind would  fallow
as the moon shining bright
 the wolfs began to howl
in so far,
 silent remain the owl
as demons began to prowl
amongst  the tall trees,
 where it was always shade
 the sun broke out
where the bees and birds
would cladder
because of light
thought they would shutters
like vampire's to light
the demons began to flee
the ones  inside of me
but before the currant
rise to see the light
i was awoken from a dream.

I have been having bad dreams. I awake, hoping the world is still here. Hello Mauricio. I liked the wild thoughts in the poem. If I am lucky. I write poetry in my dreams but the new world. Leave us with more questions than answers. Thank you for sharing the your amazing poetry and your thoughts.

Words of Wisdumb brings up an interesting point for debate. I actually DO believe that I do my best writing when stoned on large amounts of marijuana. And I kinda brag about it all the time. To be honest, I still feel judgmental about you touting that you wrote this while drunk. We all have our misguided prejudices & assumptions about the old stereotype that writers need their various substances to do their magic.

Hell, why is it okay for cigarette smokers to write about the romance of a writer sitting with a pen in one hand & a cigarette in the other, yet I get flack for being a stoner-writer? Anyhow, I applaud you for just being yourself & not worrying about the judgemental masses. Your poem reads exactly like a dream feels, jumping around a little bit random in spots, but also drawing us in deep in spots, as if immersed in a murky liquid of foreboding (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Altered states produce altered works. Both writing and intoxicants involve experimentation which is fine as long as we don't believe "I do my best work when I'm stoned". Great Poem!

Yeah I'll drink to that, thank you
Sometimes drinking can bring about good writing...lol. Ritualistic and full of foreboding. I like the dark feel and the almost sage advice this gives. I really like this!!
