Father

Father

A Poem by Mauricio Montoya

Father

We had our differences

Sometimes we could not see eye to eye

I guess destiny allowed the past to go behind as we went our separate ways

I would often pray that once again our paths would cross

But now you lie in slumber

While I lie awake

I ask that you please forgive me as I have forgiven you

My dream is to grow from the examples and words that you’ve shared with me

And for that I am grateful to be your son

And for this life I thank you

Beautiful honest write , forgiveness is key and when people pass on there is always hope that what remains is the love and the lessons they thought us . You honour yourself and your father with this poem.

Beautiful honest poem/letter. Well written. I personally believe the time we have with our parents is what it's supposed to be- even when situations make for long separations. You found the good.

First off, sorry to hear of your Father. This is just a simple, cathartic tribute in honoring the man and the examples that he taught you.
