Father

Father

A Poem by Mauricio Montoya

Father

We had our differences

Sometimes we could not see eye to eye

I guess destiny allowed the past to go behind as we went our separate ways

I would often pray that once again our paths would cross

But now you lie in slumber

While I lie awake

I ask that you please forgive me as I have forgiven you

My dream is to grow from the examples and words that you’ve shared with me

And for that I am grateful to be your son

And for this life I thank you

A wonderful tribute to your Dad. Emotional without being maudlin. I feel a great strength when reading this piece.

Very touching Maurico. So common it is that Sons & Fathers communicate so poorly during life. I told my tough ex Sgt Major Father that I loved him just once! The look of joy on his face and I am so glad I did!
