Death of a QueenA Poem by tiggerluhooThis poem took me about 3 weeks to write, I re-wrote every single stanza about 3 times... It was a diffictult poem to write, but I am pleased with the outcome! :)I’m captured by the warden heavy thoughts lay in my mind. My people’s hearts have hardened greedy hands guard what they find. I was crowned at just 13 expected me to take the reigns in this country I’m their queen Half my court thinks I’m insane. My family was murdered Lost in an intended fire I can still hear them murmur Someone here is a liar. Their voices drift down the halls haunting the gloomy castle saying not even these walls can make the murders hassle. Famine’s fallen on the land Dead bodies lay strewn in streets all that’s left of fields are sand Rags wrapped on my peoples feet I come back to reality Look at the knife in his hand no congeniality He’s a ready assassin He brings the knife to my heart The blade begs, then it plunges. Then from his hands, blades depart Away from me he lunges. Blood spills out the cavity my hands going to my throat I’m now fighting gravity he dumps me into the moat Flailing and screaming I fall My body covered in slime. I will answer heavens call through the clouds my spirits climb What remained of my people That I can not and won’t tell keep your heads to church steeples But you need know, all is well. © 2012 tiggerluhooAuthor's Note
