Manic Restlessness

Manic Restlessness

A Poem by Richard Mueller
"

I'm not an insomniac, but I can't help stay up in the wee hours of the night and be active doing whatever

"
Sleep is scarce, thoughts unruly and manic
Bouncing against walls as if in a rather panic
Midnight seems so far, it comes, it goes
And I'm still up and about, restless, it shows
My eyes tell all, for if you look at me, you'll see
Weariness, and I still need sleep, I plea
I beg of you let me sleep, even if I've so much to say
So much to write and sing and say, oh god, why...

Why do my thoughts keep me up to play?
