Hat Trick

Hat Trick

A Poem by Richard Mueller
"

Unexpected in more ways than one

"
Your hat is floating in middair
Your only form of protection
I stare
Naked, you are...
Doesn't it feel drafty at all?
I call
From the other side of the boundary
That we've made for ourselves
I fall
To my knees, weak and afraid
For the climax of the trick was unexpected
I bleed
You betrayed me and I knew it
I knew it as soon as the knife hit me
I die
See, I've a trick of my own
Karma is gonna come back to bite you
I float
I float to you
Because I care
You die
