Morning Chase Into Night (You Tried, I Know)A Poem by Richard MuellerI don't know why I wrote this
When you wake up in the morning
Does a broken window pour in sunlight? Does it, perhaps, come as a warning? A warning telling you to run mighty As fast as the wind could carry you You find yourself slowly waning evermore Does that wind, through broken vein, course through? Furthermore, does that wind tell you of that you're too late? I've watched every car you're chasing All of your mind erasing, sanity snapping As you tried your hardest, but your hardest just wasn't hard enough That's enough! Stop yourself! These thoughts of self-depreciation you should rebuff... Please tell me that that's enough... Please tell me that you've had enough... Please tell me I'm enough... Please tell me you're trying your hardest... Please tell me... Please tell me... Please... ...
