As The King SaysA Poem by Richard MuellerInspired by "Said The King To The River" by the hardcore spoken word band, La Dispute
As the king says to the turbulent tempest
"Mar on, for you are the fiercest!" And the winds take back to the glorious past As to destroy and ruin, it is steadfast As the king says to the rushing rapids "Rise on, please show me your hatred!" And the waters depict our present situation As to demolish and flood, it's condemnation As the king says to the raging inferno "Burn on, leave ashes of the hollows!" And the flames bring forward a dark future As to crumble and kill, it can tend to spew, sir As the king says to the quaking earth "Part on, level everything for what it's worth!" And stones tell us a kingdom's story A story of that kingdom's lack of glory As the king says to himself in his last breaths "Live on, my memories of all my peoples' deaths!" And the blood pours out of that poor old man Woe is him, what is higher than Higher than that old man? © 2016 Richard MuellerAuthor's Note
