Everything happens for a reasonA Poem by tiana hernandezGreat news She just had to tell him! But they weren't even in communication Now that was the realization But she wanted to tell him so bad! But she knows he was left so sad Last time they spoke he ended up crying She was sorry she left you trying It was sad she had to let go But she already knew why though So she wanted to tell you But what was it going to lead to? Ah forget it she just press send When he opened it she sat there to pretend Then he messaged back And she felt like they were back on track Little did she know He had something to show Spend hours at the store Seeing which ones hits the perfect score Should it be a white? Nah that's not right. Should it be blue? Nah she wasn't even his boo. How about turquoise? Yeah that is the right choice! Got home Sitting there alone Looking at his phone Thinking of what else to put on Maybe a drawing? Yeah maybe it'll show her some loving Started writing words Then started drawings swords This love felt real What is the deal? He wanted to give it to her But when was the time to? He then received a text. Oh man what was going to happen next? Had it in his pocket Ready to give it to her like a rocket Once he saw her smile he got distracted Friend told him she was going through something That erased his thoughts and gave him everything Doubts, questions, and second thoughts So he sat there and sought Sitting there with her in his arms in the car Knowing she left his scar He was slowly falling Meanwhile he was holding on It was not the day So he held onto it and put it away As the days past It did not last It started to get dust Was it love or lust? Woke up everyday to see it right there Knowing he had nothing to spare He just woke up to give it up Tossed it in the garbage Pouring his heart out through the breakage Turned away while it fell He didn't know what to tell Went to sleep Woke up and felt cheap Ran to the garbage to see if it was still there He knew he always cared Could not find it So he walked away with a fit Crazy to know He worked hard on it for it to blow So he went about his day Walked out with his friend barely having anything to say Until he accidentally and randomly stepped on it And there it was.. The postcard he bought to congratulate But for some reason this felt like fate When he looked down There is was and he put a frown The now dirty postcard That never got to her... © 2019 tiana hernandez |
