You're My Father, But Not My Dad

You're My Father, But Not My Dad

A Poem by Dove

You may be my father
But you'll never be my dad
You weren't there for me
Through the tough times I had
You weren't there to catch me
If I was to fall
You didn't love me
You weren't there at all
Every single night
My mom tucked me into bed
Then told me goodnight
Something you never said
She brought me into this world
And has been there for me
I grew up without a dad
This you couldn't see
My mom held me close
Whenever I fell
But you didn't
You stayed in you stupid shell
I thank my mom for always being there
Unfortunatley I had a father who didnt care
Remember
Leagally you're the only father I've ever had
But still
You will never be my dad
